Cala Morell

Minorca Details

It is a protected from the weather in a lee and is a haven for the Citadel and fishermen who can use the Bay to shelter during severe storms while they are out fishing. It is also one of the few entry points along a coastline of predominantly high cliffs and revealing North wind.
At the top of the cliffs are vast pine forests, dotted with white houses in the Ibizan style, after the style of architect Luis Rey, who along with Enrique Ventura, were the visionaries who conceived this development and made the dream come true.

Since the 1960s the style has marked and defined the houses for more than 30 years. New design has come to the area creating controversy about the break in traditions.

In a valley that ends at the beach is a set of remarkable prehistoric caves dug into the ravine being an unparalleled example such a site and the necropolis of Talayotic Cala Morell , within walking distance of the beach with unique views of each side of the creek one will see a curious phenomenon where each side belongs to a clearly visible different geological era and this is visible to the naked eye. This only occurs on the island of Menorca and the Balearic islands as they belong to the same geological era.
Cala Morell is a natural bay in the Town of Ciutadella located to the North of the island of Menorca.

The Bay has a small sandy beach and is ideal to enjoy sunbathing, and the seabed is half sand, half rock and noted for its clear waters. From the cliffs surrounding the bay the sea bed can often be seen and there is a cove at one end with rocks and an underwater cave, which is a source of fresh water accessed by diving and enjoying the marine wealth and beauty.
