Alayor

Alayor in Catalan Alaior is a municipality in the autonomous community of Balearic Islands. Located on the island of Menorca, with a population of 8972 inhabitants. Situated 12 km from the capital, Mahon.

Its main activities are: tourism, footwear industry, cheese and construction materials.
It is a university town, as there is the extension of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). A part of the university, there are also the primary and secondary schools, La Salle Alaior, and Dr. Comas.

Its patron saints are San Lorenzo and Santa Eulalia. Thus, the patron saint festivities are held on weekends after August 10, Sant Llorenç, with the traditional racket. In the traditional festivals, the main thing is the horses, and the noise. The horses wearing a special uniform and their riders as well, always black and white.
